Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon has arrived in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, held from August 31 to September 1. His presence underscores Tajikistan’s enduring commitment to regional cooperation and multilateral diplomacy.

In a recent interview at the Palace of the Nation in Dushanbe, President Rahmon praised the SCO as a “successful and influential multilateral platform” that has consistently delivered tangible results across economic, trade, and political domains. “The SCO is an effective organization. It delivers concrete actions rather than empty words,” he stated according to englishnews.cn

As one of the founding members of the SCO, Tajikistan has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s direction and priorities. Rahmon likened the SCO to a child “jointly created and nurtured” by its six founding states, emphasizing the deep-rooted collaboration that has defined its evolution according to Xinhua.

Over the years, the SCO has grown into a globally recognized institution, with security remaining a central focus—particularly in Central Asia, where stability and cooperation are vital. Rahmon highlighted the organization’s proactive stance in addressing regional challenges and fostering mutual trust among member states.

The 2025 summit in Tianjin is expected to address key issues including regional security, economic integration, and cultural exchange, reinforcing the SCO’s role as a cornerstone of Eurasian diplomacy.
