The Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, arrived in Awaza, Turkmenistan, on August 4 for a working visit to attend the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3).

This high-level participation underscores Azerbaijan’s active engagement in addressing the challenges faced by landlocked developing states, particularly in enhancing regional connectivity, trade facilitation, and sustainable development.

The visit also comes amid a period of growing strategic partnership between Baku and Ashgabat. In July 2025, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan and National Leader, paid an official visit to Baku, reaffirming the mutual commitment of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to strengthen cooperation on regional and global platforms.

The LLDC3 conference in Awaza is expected to provide an important opportunity for Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to align their efforts in promoting regional infrastructure projects, energy collaboration, and multilateral initiatives under the UN framework.
