On August 3, 2025, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, Sahibə Qafarova, led a parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Turkmenistan. The visit is in connection with the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, where a Parliamentary Forum is being held as part of the broader event.

According to the Milli Majlis Press Service, the Azerbaijani delegation was welcomed at the Turkmenbashi International Airport by Bayramgözəl Muradova, Chair of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture, and Youth Policy of the Turkmenistan Parliament, along with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Qismət Gözəlov, and other officials.

The Parliamentary Forum is taking place in Avaza, a coastal city in Turkmenistan. Speaker Qafarova is set to chair the opening session of the Forum. Her agenda includes delivering a keynote address and holding several bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and regional dialogue.

This visit underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to multilateral engagement and its active role in addressing the challenges faced by landlocked developing countries, particularly through parliamentary diplomacy.
